The
KANOMAX 3888 is a compact, handheld laser particle counter designed for cleanroom, HVAC, industrial hygiene, and indoor air quality measurements. It detects particles in
three size channels (0.3 µm, 0.5 µm, and 5.0 µm) at a
flow rate of 0.1 CFM (2.83 L/min), delivering high accuracy compliant with
JIS B9921 and ISO 21501-4 standards. The instrument achieves a maximum measurable concentration of up to
2,000,000 particles/ft³ with 10 % coincidence loss, counting efficiency of
50 ± 20 % at the minimum size and 100 ± 10 % for 1.5–2× minimum particles, and a false count rate of
≤ 1 particle per 5 minutes with size resolution ≤ 15 % near 0.3 µm. It features a
4.3″ full-color resistive touchscreen LCD, onboard memory for up to
10,000 records in CSV format, and a
USB interface for data transfer, supporting multiple languages (English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish). Power is supplied by a
replaceable Li-ion rechargeable battery or an AC adapter (100–240 V) with about
5 hours of continuous operation. Operating conditions for the main unit range from
10 °C to 40 °C and 0–85 % RH (no condensation) and for the probe from
0 °C to 50 °C and 2–98 % RH, while the unit measures approximately
213 × 100 × 55 mm and weighs
around 650 g.
